Pursuing: harmony

Do you feel it? The energy in the air as you step outside? The sun on your face, its blinding emergence from winter. The warm waft of dew, grass, stagnant snow melting away, welcoming you back into the bloom. The low murmur of outdoor animals again, the whir of children playing in the background, the internal embrace of sound familiarity. Outstretch your arms, breathe in, and bask in the healing rays.

You’ve emerged, again, into Spring.

This change is a perpetual cycle that visits us each year, and whether or not we welcome it, she arrives and greets us with warmth. Spring’s arrival is not with surprise – but with slow and gradual metamorphosis like the snow slowly melting away. Before you realize it even happened, it’s gone. One morning you awake and find yourself pondering how it left so quickly, when just a month ago you thought it would never end.

The seasons of life are much like this portrayal, some come on quickly with surprise and others slowly melt into the next. As we shift into the sun, I urge us to find harmony in this change in our lives, as well, and grasp onto it. At this middle ground between the Winter chill and Summer saturation – ask yourself: are you content? What do you hope to leave back in Winter, and bring forward into Spring? Harmony is peace, it’s a blend of chaos and solace. Its melody and balance. It’s perpetually moving forward. Use time over this week to act this out – intentionally plan to move forward. Evaluate your priorities for these next few months, your goals, your to-do list and promise me this: whatever your list looks like, scale it back. Make it simple, minimize, because there is life to live around the hustle. There’s life to soak in and enjoy around the fray.

If you run too fast, you’ll miss it.

This is your reminder, from myself and from the sun, to take a moment and look around. Blink wide open and wave “so long” the dreary winter blues!

This season of the weather and the season of your soul: it’s magnificent.

Our sweet Liberty, with eyes full of wonder.

Reminding me to slow down and look forward to the new seasons ahead.
